The cigar brand Por Larrañaga is one of the oldest brands in Cuba, although its production was originally supposed to be discontinued at the end of 2002. However, the mild-sweet cigars are unexpectedly still being produced. Currently, from the range we have offered so far, the Montecarlos, Panetelas, Petit Coronas, and since the end of 2014, a new format called Picadores are being produced or delivered by the Cubans.

Since no one knows how long these surprising deliveries will continue, it is advisable to seize the opportunity and secure a small (or even a slightly larger) stock of these very elegant and sweet Habanos. If retirement is not so certain anymore, at least these cigars offer a high probability of future smoking pleasure!

In addition to the now four different vitolas in the regular lineup, numerous Ediciones Regionales have been launched under this brand in recent years. The most well-known release was certainly the Robusto of the Edicion Regional for Germany in 2010, which was released in both 25-count boxes and a special humidor by Adorini, and sold out rapidly. In 2014, an ER for the British market was developed, which we had the pleasure of tasting during a visit to London in May 2015, and we liked it very much.

Interesting facts about the Por Larrañaga brand

With the brand "Por Larrañaga," we turn our attention to a Habanos brand that, just over 150 years ago, was one of the most significant cigar brands and at the same time, one of the oldest Habanos brands. It was founded in 1834 by Ignacio Larrañaga, although another source claims that Antonio Rivero was the brand's founder.

By the end of the 19th century, the brand was internationally renowned as a luxury brand, if not the most famous brand worldwide. The cigars were among the most expensive in the world. In a cigar book from 1910, Por Larrañaga is referred to as the most important cigar brand of all. It could be found in the finest hotels, clubs, and restaurants on all five continents. In the most esteemed circles of European high culture, in cities like Berlin, Paris, London, St. Petersburg, or Vienna, Por Larrañaga was the cigar par excellence. Countless awards confirm the popularity of this brand.
