Leite & Alves Stalk Cut
Leite & Alves cigars embody artisanal passion and Brazilian tobacco culture. Imported by Sebastian Gollas from Berlin, they are crafted in the workshop of Renato Madeiro in Cachoeira, at the heart of the Recôncavo Baiano. Following the success of the Leite & Alves Arapiraca cigars, Leite & Alves now presents the exceptional Stalk Cut Series – cigars whose wrappers are processed using a particularly gentle method. Rather than being harvested leaf by leaf, the tobacco is cut along with the stalk and slowly dried in its natural structure. This preserves the essential oils and sugars, resulting in a richer, sweet-spicy aroma.
Leite & Alves Stalk Cut: Maturity, Character, and Brazilian Craftsmanship
The stalk-cut method, originally known from Connecticut tobaccos in the USA, gives the Brazilian leaves of Leite & Alves a unique depth. In Renato Madeiro’s workshop, this technique is applied to Mata Fina and Mata Norte tobaccos, creating a densely aromatic blend. The climate of the Recôncavo Baiano—with its alternation of sun and humid Atlantic air—supports the natural fermentation of the tobacco leaves, ideal for developing the caramel, earth, and cocoa notes so typical of Brazilian cigars. This combination of traditional harvesting and modern processing makes each cigar in the series a true one-of-a-kind for lovers of complex, full-bodied blends who typically enjoy cigars from Nicaragua.
Unique Formats for Discerning Aficionados
The Leite & Alves Stalk Cut cigars are available in various formats, each highlighting the tobacco’s flavor profile in different ways. The Robusto impresses with its creamy texture and sweet finish, while the Quadrado gradually unfolds its strength, offering notes of dark wood and roasted coffee. Both are elegant cigars with refined spice and even burn. Each of these vitolas is crafted entirely by hand—a testament to the skill of the rollers in Cachoeira. For aficionados looking to explore the depth of Brazilian cigars, the Stalk Cut Series from Leite & Alves is a must.
