Dannemann: Bestseller
Dannemann: All items
Dannemann is a well-known name, especially in connection with cigarillos. But that’s far from the whole story.
Dannemann: Historical Roots and Modern Values
It all began with Geraldo Dannemann. As a young man, he left the beautiful city of Bremen for Brazil. He had already been introduced to cigars in his hometown and wanted to dedicate himself to them. Whether it was his passion for tobacco or simply the North German drizzle that drove him to the New World, we can only guess. In any case, he settled in the Mata Fina region, known for producing some of the finest tobacco in the world.
From One Source
Soon, he established strong ties with local farmers and even began growing tobacco on his own land. This principle—ensuring top-tier quality through a closed production process—remains a core value at Dannemann to this day, under the motto “from seed to smoke.”
Geraldo Dannemann became a successful entrepreneur and was even elected mayor in his new homeland. The immigrant, who had set foot on American soil at the age of 21, became one of Bahia’s most influential figures thanks to his thriving business.
The Company Today
Dannemann passed away in Hamburg in 1921. Afterward, the company faced challenges, particularly during World War II due to trade restrictions. It took time for the business to regain its footing.
Today, Dannemann is headquartered in Lübbecke, East Westphalia, near Bielefeld. Although no longer family-owned, the company remains deeply committed to its core values. Transparency and responsibility are more than just words—they shape the company’s interactions, particularly in its commitment to nature and the people in its growing regions.
German Classics: Dannemann Cigarillos
The classic Dannemann Cigarillos are typically available in Sumatra or Brasil wrappers. Those looking for affordable cigarillos will find great options in the 50-count boxes of the Schwering & Hasse series.
Treffurt Collection
The Treffurt Collection brings together cigarillos with a distinctly German history. With its retro-style packaging, the collection makes a statement. If the design reminds you of a scene from DEFA films, you're not mistaken—Diplomat, Gold, and Sprachlos all originated in the former GDR, specifically in Treffurt and Dingelstädt, Thuringia.
Similar to the Dresden cigarette brand f6, which was later acquired by Philip Morris, these brands also transitioned into private ownership after German reunification. Dannemann acquired the brand rights and the Treffurt production site, ensuring that the East German identity of these cigarillos remained intact.
Dannemann Cigars – Tradition-Driven Quality
Beyond cigarillos, Dannemann also offers a range of cigars for aficionados. The Dannemann Cigars include the Collofino, a Corona-sized cigar that promises a delightful smoking experience.
The highlight of the portfolio is the Cigarren 100% Tobacco, which captivates aficionados with its refined aromas.
