Guzman
The Guzman cigars are rolled in Navarrete, in the northern Dominican Republic, just around 25 kilometers from the country's cigar capital, Santiago de los Caballeros. The small boutique factory, Tabacalera Guzman, is run by Richard and Cristina Guzman. Richard previously worked for Davidoff, Juan Clemente, and Arturo Fuente, among others, making him responsible for production and quality control at the factory. His wife, Cristina, manages the financial side of the business, ensuring there is enough profit margin left to support the family.
Guzman Cigars: Handmade Masterpieces From Navarrete
The starting point in Europe for this small and largely unknown cigar brand was Switzerland. There, the Schwizer Trade GmbH, owned by the Schwizer family, handled the first imports before searching for an importer in Germany on behalf of the Guzman family. Today, these cigars are imported into Germany by our retail colleague Jürgen Ring (Crazy Store in Biesingen) and distributed to us as well as, where appropriate, other retail partners.
The Journey of Guzman Cigars: From a Dominican Hidden Gem to European Success
Both the Schwizer family and "Uncle" Jürgen, as he is affectionately known by his customers and throughout the industry, were so impressed by these cigars that they decided to embark on the adventure of importing them together. What won them over was, on the one hand, the excellent value for money and, on the other, their refined yet incredibly mild character with nutty coffee notes. Today, around 40 torcedores work at Tabacalera Guzman. To make browsing easier, we decided to combine what are actually three separate lines, allowing you to find the light Connecticut, the dark Maduro, and the premium Reserva together here.
