1502 – Cigars

1502 Cigars: A tribute to Nicaragua

The mastermind behind the 1502 brand is Enrique Sanchez. Born in Nicaragua, he now resides in Miami but proudly embraces his roots. He is supported by none other than Nestor Plasencia. The legendary tobacco entrepreneur, an exile from Cuba who built an empire in Nicaragua, naturally holds the country in high regard. This admiration led to a collaboration. Today, 1502 cigars are crafted in the revered halls of Plasencia.

A journey through time with 1502: History meets pleasure

And the number? It’s a historical reference to the discovery of the land. In 1502, Christopher Columbus embarked on his fourth and final voyage to the New World. The explorer of the continent had previously visited numerous Caribbean islands, often violently, on behalf of the Spanish Crown. However, he had not yet set foot on the mainland until he reached present-day Honduras in August. During this expedition, he closely examined the region. Since then, European maps have included the coastlines of what are now Panama, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua. Columbus continued to believe that a passage to China lay somewhere in the region. As we know, he was unsuccessful. The Panama Canal, connecting ships to the Pacific, would not be built until the early 20th century.

However, Columbus—and especially his successors—brought countless treasures back to Spain. One might say they were plundered. Yet, we also owe the pleasures of tobacco to the Genoese navigator.

1502 Cigars: Creamy elegance with Nicaraguan strength

The cigars of 1502 are pleasantly creamy and smooth, despite exhibiting the strength expected of their Nicaraguan origins. Ruby is the most successful line in Enrique Sanchez’s adopted home of the United States. It’s easy to understand why Americans enjoy this cigar, which increases in strength as it progresses and features a stunning Ecuadorian wrapper. The boldest series is the Black Gold, known for its full-bodied and aromatic character, while the Emerald offers a milder counterpart with its box-pressed format and gentle profile.
