Il Ceppo Estates

Since 1978, the brand IL Ceppo has stood for carefully crafted pipes made in Italy. Founded by Giorgio Imperatori – an architect with a passion for design and tobacco pipes – the brand quickly earned a solid reputation for producing high-quality pipes.

A turning point came in 1995 when Franco Rossi joined the company, bringing a refined sense of aesthetics and fresh creative energy. Together with his sister Nadia Rossi, he has continued the brand’s tradition of craftsmanship, guided by a commitment to quality and precision.

Only briar wood that has been seasoned for at least two years is used in the making of these pipes. While some steps in the process are machine-assisted, the majority of the work is done by hand – with great care and attention to detail. Each pipe reflects the experience and dedication of its makers.

IL Ceppo is considered part of the Pesaro school of pipe design – a movement that also includes names such as Mastro de Paja and Ser Jacopo. While sharing some stylistic roots, each of these workshops has developed its own identity. What unites them is a spirit of mutual respect and a shared passion for the craft.
