Bonsai – Pipes

Bonsai and Pipes by Tobias Höse
“Hösy,” as Tobias Höse is commonly known, is a relatively new name on the German pipe-making scene. Like many other pipe makers, he found his craft through his love of pipe smoking. His preference for Virginia flakes and English blends has remained. He has drawn considerable inspiration from many of his German pipe-maker colleagues, such as Dirk Heinemann and the team at CO Pipes.
Inspiration Meets Craftsmanship: Bonsai Pipes
He creates handmade pipes in his home workshop as a side job and has achieved an impressively high level of craftsmanship. The patience required for pipe-making is something he knows well from his longtime hobby: bonsai cultivation. It’s clear where his pipes got their name.

Apart from pipe-making, Hösy is also a family man and (rock) musician. He uses the finest Calabrian briar and occasionally olive wood. With his own sandblasting cabinet, he enhances the surface of many of his pipes, including those made from olive wood. Sandblasted olive wood feels incredibly pleasant to the touch.
Bonsai Pipes: Tradition and Modern Approaches
He is likely a familiar name to many in the social media world, where he shares numerous photos of his Bonsai pipes and bonsai trees. We are delighted to have this young, talented pipe-maker from Brandenburg in our range and can wholeheartedly recommend one of his handmade masterpieces.
