Winding paths
As with so many things in life, not all developments and careers always follow a dead straight path. Sometimes you get to your calling in a roundabout way. And that's actually how it was with Holmer Knudsen, who is a trained process engineer. At some point he was left without a job and had to figure out what to do next. Fortunately, a company in Lauenburg was looking for someone to take care of pipe repairs - and there he was!
Active exchange
The old workshop equipment of a former pipe maker and the lively exchange with Rainer Barbi meant that he devoted himself more intensively to the manufacture of freehand pipes. His contacts with Hans "Former" Nielsen also made him realize that pipes can not only be smoking instruments but also works of art.
Two pillars
Nevertheless, Holmer Knudsen never neglected the economic advancement of his company. Because maybe you already own a Holmer Knudsen without knowing it. He was and is also a series manufacturer of pipes and also manufactured for very well-known manufacturers. But he never neglected freehand pipe making.
Currently
His workshop is in a very idyllic location directly on the Elbe in a tobacco factory, with which he has worked for many years. The majority of Holmer customers come from Asia, where German craftsmanship enjoys an excellent reputation. But here in Europe, too, his pipes are becoming increasingly popular.
