Humidor Primary

The stick is covered in a thick, scratchy dark wrapper. The finish is rough, but high quality none the less. The cold smell gives reminds me of coal and manure. It takes fire well and produces sufficient amount of creamy smoke. The draw on my stick is just a liitle bit looser than i prefer. Strength wise this is a very mild cigar. Flavors I'm getting are sweetness, some coffee, licorice and sporadically a salty mineral note. Pepper is nowhere to be found throughout the whole smoke.The burn is overall good (smoked in high wind) and forms a grey compact ash. A nice combination of flavors, but i am missing that punch that the Habano version has. An experience to repeat.

The cigar construction is a bit bumpy, but overall even. The stick does not give a particular cold smell or draw. The draw is indeed a bit loose even though i tried to cut as little as possible from the cap. It takes fire well and from the start espresso bitterness, pepper and wood come out. The smoke volume is OK. The draw loosens up more as i continue to smoke the cigar. Pretty soon the pepper intensity and espresso bitterness reduces but are still present. The main profile of wood remains unchanged. The burn is wavy, but did not require correction on my copy. Overall linear, which for 3.9 Eur might not be a deal breaker, but this cigar did not excite me enough to buy again.

A wonderfully smooth and dark brown wrapper covers my stick. The cold smell gives me a nice cocoa powder smell. The draw is optimal without taking too much off the cap. It takes fire well and i had to touch it up only once throughout the whole smoke. From light up i get pepper on the front of the mouth and a flavor that develops in wood and cocoa butter like experience in the first third. Wood joins and cocoa grounds are the main notes for me, with a creamy smoke bellowing out. Picks up in strength in the final third, the pepper intensifies, but burns cool and some leather and earth creep in. A wonderful long smoke that i am happy to repeat!

The second iteration of the original Prensado follows with the same quality construction, the only difference i could find on my stick was a little wrinkling near the cap, a consequence of the box-press. This had no effect of the smoking experience. This stick has a bit more kick than the original Prensado. I get the same sweet nougat, but more pepper is demonstrated on the mouth and retrohale at light up. Half way in the first third the pepper subsides, leaving sweetness and nougat as the main driver. This stick produces huge quantities of creamy, chewy smoke. A few puffs before final third the pepper comes back with a vengeance, picking up in strength on the mouth and showing up on the retro-hale. Sweetness is subsiding and leather takes over the stage, combined with tingly pepper on the mouth. It gets stronger but not overpowering, but tends to run hot in the final third, so care is taken not to puff too often. Overall a tasty cigar, nice transitions and if you found the original Prensado too mellow, give this one a chance.

I was expecting better craftsmanship from A. Fuente. My copy was unevenly rolled with clear evidence of wrapper repair, with another piece glued directly the band. The draw was ok and the cold smell gave foreword of mint! what a surprise. It lit relatively easy, but uneven burn started right away. Not a lot of smoke generated, but not lacking either. Flavors dominating are woods, a bit of white pepper, the mint is here as well. A mild-medium smoke with no harsh retro hale. The taste is linear cruising through the second third. I corrected the burn twice so far. Right before the final third I got some tart notes, the strength picked up and the wrapper cracked. I enjoyed the mint, but with the issues experienced this cigar is overpriced for me.

The project 40 construction is even with a... well, natural tobacco color wrapper :). The cold smell gives some sweetness and grass. This stick had a perfect cold draw resistance, the cold draw giving some white pepper on the back of the throat. It takes fire well, and from the start i get some white pepper on the tongue, nuts, grassy notes, sweetness, and no pepper on the retro hale. It burns evenly and the grey ash fell after 2 cm, but very compact. In the second third some white pepper started to show on the retro hale, but the sweetness and nutty notes increased balancing nicely. The final third moved the strength from medium to medium plus, and introduced some leather. The sweetness gradually subdued until only leather remained in the last few puffs before i set it to rest. I was surprised about the relatively short smoking time for a Robusto, only 45 min. The wind might have something to play with that. For the 5.9 Eur it ticks all the boxes. I am looking forward to tasting the Maduro version as well.

The stick has somewhat of a rustic design, with a muted wrapper color. The cold smell reminded me of a barn or cellar. My stick had a bit of a tight draw, and the second cut broke the wrapper. Starts off mild at light up, no pepper, just a reminder of black coffee. After the first third pepper joins in the mouth as well as retro hale. Coffee and Pepper are the dominant flavors for me. The burn did require touching up after the first third, the ash was grey and stable. At 4.7eur I wouldn't buy it again.

Construction is good, the wrapper has small veins and a bit matte color. Draw is good and the cold smell reminds me of nougaty sweetness. It burns straight forming firm grey ash. From start the flavor profile for me is espresso, a bit of sweetness and spiciness on the top and back of the mouth. It might be the cold weather I'm smoking it in, but the smoke is a little dry for me. The retro hale gives black pepper, and some of that nougaty sweetness. The finish is spicy, I would put the strength at medium plus. . It is important to note that the spice is overall not overwhelming. It keeps playing with your taste buds for a while after you take a pull, but nothing that would put me away from smoking it again.

Much better construction than the Diplomat version of this cigar. The thing that stood out to me was the razor sharp burn. The same dark oily wrapper and a classy band. This stick had excellent draw. Unlit it smells earthy and sweet. The taste profile for me was earth, sweetness, some slight espresso bitterness, and a bit of pepper on the tongue. The cigar has a linear taste profile, but picks up strength in the final third.

Thin, Bright, and very tasty! Although a departure from a standard cigar size, this is a very good short smoke. I still get the triple band pleasure, the wonderful nutty sweet smell and a lot of smoke volume coming from this small cigar! Keep in mind to puff regularly, a thin ring gauge tends to put itself out! The flavors im getting are a nuts, sweet note, and a very light white pepper on the retrohale. Smoking time is around 30-40 min, a short pleasure for any time of the day.

The stick was rolled so tight i could use it as a hammer. Optically it has a nice dark, oily wrapper with medium veins. The band gives the shape additional class. After the cut I could barely draw through it, it was almost fully plugged. At this point i know i had lost the battle but tried to light it either way. Very little smoke coming through, like trying to suck concrete through a straw. Only a faint earthy aroma from the few puffs I could take. It might be good, if you find one that has a good draw. I have the Lords version resting, I hope it performs better

I bought a box from Cigarworld a couple of days ago and i could not wait to try this one out. Each sample is finely processed with a matte brown wrapper and a muted tobacco cold smell. The draw for me is perfect. Upon light up you get the aroma profile of wood and some pepper on the top of the mouth and back of the throat. No pepper on retro-hale. Strength wise i would put this in the medium range. Aroma of Wood and pepper dominate throughout the smoke for me. Burned a bit crooked in the first third, but leveled itself out, overall good burn for a boxpressed cigar. Near the last 3 cm it picked up in strength and i had to put it down at 2 cm because of the heat and now full-on strength. A short smoke of 32 min for the cold days. Is it worth 9.6 Eur a stick for me? Not sure yet. I will let them rest for a couple of weeks and update my review. Update: Resting the cigars did the trick. Smooth smoke, even burn and consistent flavor till the nub! Ill be sure to keep these in my humidor.

I kept this stick in my humidor for over 6 months. Even construction, with a dull brown wrapper, and a slightly crooked label. The cap was a different color from the cigar wrapper which seemed odd for me. The draw was a little loose for my taste. Even light and from the start a lot of spice. Pepper and spice left my tongue tingling for a while after taking a pull. The cigar makes plenty of smoke but a little dry for my taste. In addition to the pepper I found grass notes in the flavor. Nothing bad regarding construction or build quality, the burn was straight, but so much pepper is not my taste.

A large robusto with a dark rustic like wrapper and a "dark" sweet cold smell. When placed on the lips it leaves a slight bitter taste. My copy was rolled tightly but had a lighter draw than i prefer. I had to correct the burn in the first third, after wards it was ok. Medium strength smoke with good volume, flavors for me were mostly espresso with slight sweetness sporadically occurring.
