La Chaveta: Premium Cigars from Nicaragua
We are delighted to introduce our own brand in late summer 2025—a long-cherished dream come true. La Chaveta Cigars are handmade premium longfillers from Nicaragua, into which we’ve poured a great deal of thought and passion.
From Online Retail to Cigar Brand
We’re approaching 30 years of active operation with the Cigarworld online shop. Our goal has always been to stock everything available on the German cigar market. In addition, we offer our own labels, such as the popular house brands La Domaine de Lavalette from the Dominican Republic and Rosa Nicaragua from Nicaragua. These bundle cigars offer excellent value for money and suit any occasion, but can’t match the complexity of a longfiller.
Home in Nicaragua: La Chaveta Cigars
With La Chaveta Cigars from Nicaragua, we are entering the realm of high-end quality products. We’ve long envisioned launching a house brand rolled in this Central American country. Until now, various factors had kept this dream out of reach.
What changed things was a friend of the house: Ralf Westerwick, like us from NRW, runs the Estelí-based factory Casa de Alegria. We’ve shared a strong personal and professional bond with him for over two decades. When Ralf told us about increased production capacity at his factory, the decision was clear. We knew from the start: a jumbo factory wasn’t an option—we wanted a small manufacturer that would dedicate itself to the brand with the same passion we have. And Ralf—of that we were sure—was the ideal partner.
What Makes the La Chaveta Brand Special?
As requested, La Chaveta cigars are rolled a little firmer—for optimal draw resistance and a particularly stable ash. Two pigtails, one at the head and one at the foot, make these cigars unmistakable. But quality and flavor aren’t everything—the price has to be right too. That’s why we’re especially pleased to be able to offer these high-end cigars at a fair price, well under 10 euros, thanks to our direct collaboration with the manufacturer.
Meaning of “Chaveta”
How did we come up with the name? A “chaveta” is the curved blade used to cut the wrapper leaf. It’s widely used in cigar production and serves as a key symbol of tobacco craftsmanship. Its distinctive name is meant to quickly become synonymous with top-quality cigars from Nicaragua for aficionados.
La Chaveta at a Glance: Cigars, Samplers, Cutters
All La Chaveta Cigars are available in elegant wooden boxes, as well as practical freshpacks and pouches. The line includes various cigar formats—ensuring every aficionado finds the right shape for their taste. La Chaveta Cigars are available exclusively in our online shop.
La Chaveta White
The first series under the new brand is called La Chaveta White. It was designed to be mild and aromatic—and that’s exactly what it is. At the same time, it offers an impressive depth, thanks to its special filler made exclusively from Nicaraguan tobaccos from Estelí, Jalapa, and Condega. This is cigar blending from Nicaragua at an internationally top-tier level.
- La Chaveta White Perla – the small, refined version for shorter moments of enjoyment.
- La Chaveta White Robusto – the popular format with a balanced burn.
- La Chaveta White Toro – bolder and fuller-bodied, ideal for longer enjoyment.
La Chaveta Sampler
La Chaveta Samplers come in handy freshpacks and pouches that both protect the cigars and offer visual appeal. Instead of identical formats, they contain different cigar sizes—an invitation to explore the brand from Nicaragua.
The first sampler, the La Chaveta White Freshpack, contains six hand-rolled premium cigars (Toro, Robusto, Perla). They are creamy, smooth, aromatic, and—thanks to their firm roll—offer ideal draw resistance.
La Chaveta Cutter
To complete the elegant presentation, a matching cigar cutter is also available. This accessory is the work of another friend of the house: Thorsten Wolfertz, who crafts the reliable tools using original Solingen blades. A perfect addition to this new premium house brand from Nicaragua.
