Under the Ben Wade name, the Danish pipe maker created distinctive, handcrafted freehands that differed significantly from the traditional English models. Early Ben Wade pipes from Leeds are dominated by classic, often rather compact shapes in a typically English style. Examples stamped “Made in Leeds, England” can be attributed to the original family era. Later London models, by contrast, date from the period following the acquisition. Preben Holm's freehand pipes provide a striking contrast: flowing lines, bolder proportions, and individual finishes define this Danish period. As a result, the selection can range from a traditional briar pipe to a characterful vintage freehand.
