The Bjarne NOS Pipes are aimed at pipe enthusiasts who appreciate classic Danish pipe culture and models that are no longer in regular production. “NOS” stands for New Old Stock and refers to older, previously unused items. These pipes therefore combine historic character with the appeal of an unsmoked piece. Bjarne Nielsen and the Tradition of Danish Pipes

Behind Bjarne Pipes was Bjarne Nielsen, who began making his own pipes as a teenager and devoted himself entirely to the pipe business from 1973 onwards. Initially, his pipes were mainly exported to the USA, while Germany later became one of his most important markets. For many years, Mogens Johansen played a major role in production, making the majority of Bjarne pipes and today being known under his own name with Johs Pipes. The higher-end Bjarne pipes, on the other hand, were made by pipe maker Phil Vigen. Nielsen died in 2008 at the age of 66, leaving behind a name closely associated with the history of Danish pipe making.

Bjarne NOS Pipes: Classic Shapes as Unsmoked Finds

With the NOS models, the focus is less on a uniform design language and more on the variety of earlier Bjarne pipes. A Billiard pipe has a classic, balanced appearance, while Bent models feature a different silhouette thanks to their curved shank. Apple and Brandy shapes place greater emphasis on rounded or more boldly sculpted bowls. Design, finish and shape may vary depending on the available stock. Bjarne pipes, however, were particularly known for their matte, silky finish. It is precisely these differences that make Bjarne NOS Pipes appealing to enthusiasts looking for an unsmoked pipe from a bygone production period and, with it, a piece of Danish pipe-making history.
