Castello Pipes

The brand Castello guarantees highest quality available. Highest expectations to resources and workmanship as well as unique design lead to the fact that pipesmokers all over the world name Castello along with Dunhill.

The mouthpieces of Castello pipes carry the "White Bar" as identification mark. Some pipes, especially those for the US market, carry the "Diamond" symbol as a branding symbol on the mouthpiece.

Castello pipes don't have a filter. Signiore Coppo explains why: "Our pipes don't need a filter. The wood is selected so well, so dry and mature that the wood is very absorbent. The drillings are clean and a bit wider than other manufacturers. I am very sure that a filter pipesmoker can smoke from our pipes just as dry as filter pipes."

The Grading of Castello seems a bit confusing at first sight. But at closer look it's logical and comprehensible. There are eleven different kinds of surface variants available. Quality and price increasing, as follows:

1. Sea Rock

A dark stained, hand rusticated pipe. Very craggy and unique. Very popular.

2. Natural Vergin

A completely natural, unstained, hand rusticated pipe. Quite rare and quite desired. Darkens wonderfully.

3. Old Antiquari

Deep, sandblasted surface in different colours. Pretty rare because only high quality wood is picked.

4. Trade Mark

Smooth, dark stained surface. Dark brown or reddish. Vivid grain.

5. Castello

Brighter surface, good grain without faults. The most popular smooth surface. Some exceptional grains.

6. Collection

More bright staining. Flawless surface. Exceptional grains.

7. Collection Occhio di Pernice

Similar to "Collection". But more cross-grain and birdseyes and unusual shapes. Rare.

8. Collection Greatline

Just like "Collection", but quite big bowls.

9. Collection Greatline Fiammata

Extraordinary straight grains, big bowls. Very rare.

10. Perla Nera

Very smooth, flawless black stained surface.

11. Flame

Unusal carvings in flame-shape, fantastic grains.

Moreover, Castello applies a "K" Grading which gives information about the size or grain quality. The "K-grading" gives information about the grain quality in smooth pipes and about the bowl size with rusticated or sandblasted pipes. A Castello "Collection KKKK" is a fastastically grained piece while a "Sea Rock KK" is a pretty small pipe.

In Germany, Castello has only a very limited number of dealers. We are all the more pleased to offer the connaiseur Castello pipes. They are unique smoking instruments which belong to the best pipes in the world.
