Amorelli Handmades

Pipe maker Salvatore Amorelli is regarded as one of the most unconventional figures in the Italian pipe-making scene. His creations combine traditional craftsmanship with technical innovation – a fusion that becomes evident in both material selection and execution.

One of Amorelli’s most remarkable features is his impressive stock of over 30,000 briar blocks. This wood comes exclusively from Sicily – a deliberate choice, motivated not only by regional ties but also by his conviction that Sicilian briar offers a particularly balanced and refined flavour that stands out clearly when smoked.

In addition to his careful selection of materials, Amorelli relies on technical precision. Modern laser engraving machines are used in the surface treatment process, enabling exact structures, patterns and fine textures that lend each pipe its unmistakable character.

His 9mm pipes also offer a special detail that particularly appeals to those who prefer smoking without a filter: a custom-made adapter made from briar wood that can be inserted when needed. Each adapter is crafted to fit perfectly and integrates seamlessly with the pipe’s design.

Amorelli is also known for his willingness to experiment. Alongside briar, he occasionally works with other types of wood, such as the rarely used Aruba wood. These models are released in small series and reflect his enthusiasm for creative variety – always with a clear focus on functionality.
