Big Ben pipes are manufactured by the Dutch company Gubbels. What began as a small business in the 19th century became a successful manufacturer of briar pipes after the Second World War. The Pipo model is anything but uninvolved in this, as its distinctive appearance makes it one of the company's top products. Legend has it that an electric shaver from Braun was the inspiration for the design, which even won an award in 1957 at the Triennale di Milano, an internationally important trade fair for design.
