Bruno Nuttens Factory Pipes

Bruno Nuttens is of Belgian nationality, and he has been living in france for over 15 years. He had been a pipesmoker for several years, as he began to refurbish and repair old pipes.

Like many before him he began to work on pre-drilled briarwood to make pipes from it. But soon he tried to build pipes completely himself.

He made the biggest progress as he got in touch with Pierre Morel, which many knew as long term pipemaker in the "Pipe-Capital" Saint Claude. Piere Morel provided him old machines for making pipes, that gives him the ability to work with greater precision on mouthpieces and briar.

Another milestone in his development was a practical training at pipemaking-legend Tom Eltang in Denmark in 2019. Here, he learnt most about finish and shaping.

Bruno Nuttens is very much influenced by old french pipeshapes and traditional methods. Elegance and classical design are appropriate attributes und characterize his style.

One thing he never forgets is the typical french pipe-virtue: Pipes should be designed to work flawlessly, and they should be reasonably priced.

Often he falls back on old, pre-drilled pipebowls that where found in an old french pipe-factory. This wood is always more than 30 years old, often older than 60 years. This is why the pipesmoker receive only perfectly dried, matured wood.

Best briar, best value ebonite and cumberland made in germany are mostly used for the mouthpieces, sometimes acrylic too.
