Classic claypipe made in England

Sometimes you don't get pipes by the most direct route. We got these beautiful, modern-looking clay pipes from an estate pipe dealer friend of ours, who found them in a bundle in a shop clearance and came to the conclusion that they didn't fit into his range.

We had to do some research to find out what kind of clay pipes they were. We were helped by the lettering ‘RAOB’ on pipe no. 2, which refers to the ‘Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes’, a traditional, formal charity club that reached its highest membership in the 1950s. This club had clay pipes produced for special events and occasions.

One of the last producers of these clay pipes was John Griffith from Bewdley, England.

Unfortunately, we cannot say with absolute certainty that these pipes were made by John Griffith. However, the design strongly suggests that they were.

What is certain in our opinion is that these clay pipes were made in England.

They are excellently finished and coated at the end of the mouthpiece so that the clay does not stick to the lips.

These specialities are of course only available while stocks last.
