The source of the exquisite Cardhu Scotch remains a mystery, deeply rooted in the forests of Speyside. An ancient distillery, hidden among majestic mountain peaks, tells a story that began over two centuries ago. It was there that two remarkable women established their livelihood amidst this idyllic landscape.
The first was Helen Cumming, a courageous pioneer who, together with her husband, founded the Cardhu distillery in 1811. As one of the earliest female masters of whisky, she is truly a trailblazer. The second lady was Elizabeth, her daughter-in-law, a master of trade and an undisputed queen of the whisky world. In the late 1880s, she wisely recognized the emerging interest in Scotch whisky and skillfully utilized it to promote the family business.
