Brookfield Pipe Tobacco

The Brookfield brand stands for a series of flavoured pipe tobaccos that promise a pleasant smoking experience at medium strength for every occasion. They are produced in the traditional Poeschl factory in Geisenhausen near Landshut in Bavaria, Germany. The Lower Bavarians are especially known for their snuff, as their products achieve a proud 95 percent share of the German snuff market and are exported to numerous countries. Among them are brands such as the popular Gletscherprise or Ozona and Gawith. The latter, contrary to what one might assume, is not part of the range of the English pipe tobacco manufacturer Samuel Gawith, but also comes from Poeschl.

In the post-war period, the family business, which was founded in 1902, also focused on smoking tobaccos. In doing so, a trend of the sixties suited them. Suddenly it became en vogue to smoke a pipe, first in intellectual student circles, later in the still young medium of television. Poeschl reacted by creating new pipe tobacco series and at the same time further expanding its distribution network. Still benefiting from this, the company, now in its fourth generation of family ownership, holds its own to this day as a medium-sized company among the big players in the tobacco market.

Brookfield tobacco is available in four varieties. Brookfield No. 1 is characterised by a subtle vanilla aroma. The blend of Virginia, Burley and Java can be smoked pure, but is also suitable as an ingredient for pipe lovers who enjoy experimenting with their own mixture. Brookfield No. 2 combines Virginia, Burley and Black Cavendish, which are rounded off by a much more distinct vanilla note.
