Samuel Gawith Snuff

When the small tobacco mill in England's Lake District opened in 1792, no one could have imagined that tobacco from the house of Samuel Gawith would still be sold today. What started out as snuff is now one of the world's leading brands of pipe tobacco. When Samuel Gawith died in 1865, his son was still too young, so the factory was held in trust. One of these trustees was Henry Hoggarth, who later became a partner and so the company was named Gawith & Hoggarth. After minor disputes, the Gawith brothers separated and the company was split into Samuel Gawith and Gawith & Hoggarth. Since 2015, the two companies are now one again and have also merged their production.

Samuel Gawith is a manufacture that places the utmost priority on the quality of its tobaccos, even if this means that a tobacco cannot be delivered for an indefinite period of time.

Only when the master blenders are satisfied with the result does the tobacco go on sale. Customers appreciate this uncompromising love of quality and remain loyal to Samuel Gawith.
