J. Cortès
These visually modern-looking cigars have been produced by the Vandermarliere family in Belgium since 1926. Since then, the family has always placed the utmost importance on the highest quality. Only tobaccos from very good growing regions are used, and there have been no changes to the blends since their introduction. They offer a spicy and highly aromatic flavor that is still easily accessible.
The Vandermarliere family has significantly expanded their portfolio since then. In the mid-2010s, the family company acquired the cigar manufacturer Oliver Siegers, along with his tobacco plantations and factory in Nicaragua. In 2022, the Solingen-based company Wolfertz GmbH was acquired, and at the beginning of 2023, Wörmann GmbH was also acquired. The family is now a strongly vertically integrated company, with everything from tobacco plantations to tobacco processing, production, import, and distribution under one roof.
The blue cigars from J. Cortez are made with a filler blend of Java and Brazilian tobaccos. The binder is also Java, and the wrapper comes from Sumatra.
The white products of J. Cortes cigars use a filler blend of Java, Brazil, and the Dominican Republic. The wrapper is also Dominican, while this time a Connecticut Shade from Ecuador is used as the wrapper. As a result, the white Dominican cigars tend to be milder and slightly sweeter than the classic blue variants.
