Skelton Small Cigars
After successfully launching two cigar lines, the popular manufacturer is now expanding its range with cigarillos that also feature the distinctive skeleton emblem. As usual, the name plays on the word Skeleton, combined with the first name of the founder, Tonio Neugebauer. Active as an importer and distributor since 2017, he is also producing the new formats under the Skel Ton label, with the claim “Live your Dreams”, at Plasencia in Nicaragua.
Skel Ton Cigarillos: New Line With Iconic Skeleton Design
The same small quirk continues in the spelling: Officially, Tonio prefers the two-word version, but for searchability reasons we continue to list the brand as Skelton. Experience shows that users tend to type a single word. To ensure both versions lead to results, you'll still find both spellings used throughout the text! The first line he introduced was the Skelton Live your Dreams Cigars, which we've been offering since 2017. The second, slightly milder Skelton Xrelaxx Cigars followed in summer 2023. Tonio has always been very active on social media, sharing his passion for cigars in various cigar groups. As far as I recall, he was even a moderator in some of them and got to know a great number of fellow cigar lovers through this role. We were admittedly a bit skeptical at first, since turning a cigar hobby into a profession is something many have tried—and often failed. But Tonio clearly managed to create a far better blend than most others in the industry, which is why his cigars have been selling exceptionally well for years and have since become bestsellers in our shop. Respect!
Ecuador Connecticut Shade Meets Dominican Republic: Skelton Cigarillos Tobacco Profile
Visually, the Skelton Cigarillos follow the established line quite closely. The skeleton motif remains front and center, and despite its playful tone, it ensures strong brand recognition. This time, the boxes are made of metal, as bundling the cigarillos and repackaging them into (more sustainable) tins in Germany would be far too much effort. In terms of tobacco, the Skel Ton Connecticut Cigarillos go in a completely different direction from the two longfiller series. They use an Ecuador Connecticut Shade wrapper, a binder from Indonesia, and filler tobaccos from the Dominican Republic. As a result, these cigarillos are noticeably milder and more refined than the cigars. The “rich and aromatic” character of the cigars from Nicaragua is absent here; likely, using the same tobaccos in this format would have made them far too strong. I really enjoyed the cigarillos, even though I usually prefer larger formats—let’s say at least something in the Minutos range. But for a quick smoke, or outside in a snowstorm—absolutely! In short, the cigarillos have nothing in common with the cigars in terms of taste—but that’s perfectly fine!
