Balboa Vintage 2001

The BALBOA Collection is the world's only annual series of cigars made from single-origin vintage tobaccos. Made from the rarest and most expensive tobacco in the world, all formats are strictly limited each year.

Just as a hundred years ago, only the purest Panama tobaccos are used for BALBOA cigars, which impress with their finely spicy to heavy flavor. According to ancient tradition, the cigar production on the small plantations in northern Panama completely avoids the use of artificial fertilizers and pesticides. BALBOA stands for the highest level of quality. Emphasizing the fermentation of tobacco and the aging of cigars, it honors the long tradition of the luxury brand. The vintage tobaccos undergo triple fermentation, and the cigars are subjected to two additional aging cycles before they are available in specially selected specialty stores. The entire aging process can take up to six years.

Panama, a land full of adventure. Just a few decades after its discovery in 1501, this small Central American country houses the largest international seaport and becomes a transfer and transshipment point for people and goods by sea from Asia and the American West Coast to Europe. Due to the constantly increasing volume of goods, the French begin the construction of the Panama Canal. At this time, the Frenchman Alfons Darier and the Belgian of noble lineage Jean van Cleef seize their opportunities and make history with the opening of the country's first cigar factory. The BALBOA is born, and the name Darier & Cleef becomes a trademark. The cigars reach the whole world from Panama. The BALBOA cigars, named after the discoverer of Panama, Vasco Nuñez de Balboa, become synonymous with the finest cigars and represent exceptional quality. 1904 - The Americans influence history, forcibly promote Panama's independence, and expel the French residents and entrepreneurs. With the closure of Tabacalera Darier & Cleef, the knowledge of the mythical legendary cigar brand BALBOA begins to fade in Europe.
