Le Cigar Cigars

From the Le Cigar series, now under the leadership of Renato Madeiro, known from Leite & Alves, we currently offer three Brazilian puros – two Limitada formats as well as the top product in the portfolio: the cigar with the rather self-assured name Robusto non plus Ultra. By the way: Both Robusto formats feature an Arapiraca wrapper and a Mata Fina binder. If that doesn’t get you excited, what will?

All Leite & Alves cigars imported to Germany are brought in by our specialist retail partner Sebastian Gollas from Berlin. Sebastian runs both a retail store in Berlin and a cigar distribution business. He’s constantly traveling the globe in search of exciting products from small manufacturers. In December 2021, during a trip through Brazil, he came across Renato Madeiro, the owner of the brand. His factory is located in Cachoeira – which translates to “waterfall” – in the province of Bahia. There, he currently produces some of the most sought-after cigars from Brazil. Locally, Renato is known as a flamboyant Brincalho (loosely translated as jokester) who loves to experiment with a wide variety of tobaccos.

Le Cigar Cigars: Brazilian Puros by Renato Madeiro

In addition to the typically Brazilian Mata Fina and the popular Arapiraca, he also blends with other origins not commonly used there. This combination is what makes his cigars so unique – we hope you enjoy trying them! The Leite & Alves cigars are somewhat milder in taste than the “standard” Brazilian cigar typically made with Mata Fina or Arapiraca. You can find his other series under Leite & Alves.

Exclusive Imports: Sebastian Gollas and Leite & Alves

Cigars from Brazil tend to be a bit more expensive than those from other regions, as Brazil does not have a preferential customs agreement with the European Union. In practical terms, this means all cigars are subject to a 28% customs duty, making them significantly more expensive to import compared to similar products from, say, Nicaragua or Honduras.
