We launched the Factory Overrun concept at the end of 2014. By now, with the cigars from Costa Rica presented here, there are five countries from which we purchase overstocks and offer them at very attractive prices.

Factory Overrun Cigars: Exclusivity at an Attractive Price

All of these cigars come from high-quality regular lines that were either intended as special editions for other countries or tobacco retailers, or planned as private labels for clubs, dealer associations, or similar partners—and ultimately were not called off in the expected quantities. In short, the tabacalera produced them and now needs liquidity to purchase raw materials for the standard portfolio. That’s where we come in. Put bluntly, one could say we leverage the producers’ situation for our customers. Put positively, it sounds like this: at these prices, you won’t find comparably high-quality longfillers from Costa Rica anywhere else!

Currently, all overruns presented here come from Tabacalera Vegas Santiago, run by Swiss native Marc Niehaus. Formerly a teacher in Switzerland, he followed his father to Costa Rica and into cigar production. All vitolas are made with an Ecuadorian wrapper, partly as Connecticut (Conerico), partly as Oscuro (dark), or as Media (medium shade). The binder was also grown in Ecuador. The filler blends vary; particularly noteworthy is the fact that some are blended with tobacco from Costa Rica and Peru. These combinations are rather unusual and promise intriguing flavor experiences.
