Independence

The cigars from Independence are, put negatively, typical gas station cigars. On the other hand: why not? Significantly more expensive Cuban cigars and cigarillos are also sold at gas stations!

Independence Cigars: An Unconventional Smoking Experience

It all started back then with the large silver tube, the standard Independence with a classic Sumatra blend. Then came the large flavored ones, the Extreme Vanilla, for a time the menthol-flavored Ice, or the Camouflage variant. In between, smaller formats were added as cigarillos, which enjoyed great popularity under the name XS, but have since been discontinued. The aficionado simply wanted freedom only in the large format....!

Don’t let anyone tell you what you may or should smoke here. At the end of the day, personal taste decides. The blend is “clean,” so there’s no need to worry. In a blind tasting, virtually all aficionados would probably identify these as machine-made Sumatra cigars, but they certainly wouldn’t run them down.

Independence Cigars Quality at Affordable Prices

One of the best cigars with a theoretically comparable tobacco blend from the same growing regions is, for us, the complete series of De Olifant cigars from Kempen in the Netherlands. In the past, the cigars were produced locally there; in 2023, production was moved to Sri Lanka – the quality of the tobaccos has definitely not suffered as a result.
