Aliados Cabinet Edition
You could write entire dissertations about the Aliados brand—its history is that extensive and fascinating. But let’s start at the beginning: Rolando Reyes Sr. is the man behind Kuba Aliados, Puros Indios, and Roly Zigarren. Rolando was born in Cuba in 1924 and left his homeland in 1971. His star in the cigar world reached its peak during the boom of the 1990s, when his aforementioned cigar lines achieved great success. In the 2000s, things quieted down around him due in part to business missteps and family disputes; he passed away in 2012.
Aliados Cigars: A Brand with a Turbulent History and a Promising Future
In 2021, the brand saw renewed momentum when the Vandermarliere Family of Cigars acquired it. VCF is, among other things, the owner of the Oliva Cigar Company and originally comes from the cigarillo segment. With the cigarillos from J. Cortès, the family laid its financial foundation and later entered the cigar business. As a result, both the Oliva cigars and the Aliados cigars are now part of the Belgian family enterprise. In June 2022, the company announced that two new Aliados lines would be released: the Aliados Original Blend cigars as a regular production, rolled by Julio Eiroa of JRE Tobacco Co., and the limited Aliados Cabinet Edition cigars discussed here, produced by Ernesto Perez-Carrillo as a finite, limited release.
Aliados Cigars: Tradition Meets Innovation in Exclusive Editions
The filler blend of the Aliados Cabinet Edition by EPC is Dominican and Nicaraguan, the binder also comes from Nicaragua, and the wrapper is an Ecuadorian Sumatra aged for five years. Total production is limited to 15,000 boxes, of which 10,000 were allocated to the U.S. market, while the remaining 5,000 boxes were distributed internationally.
