DAG

The name DAG derives from the Old Germanic god of the day, "Dag" (Day). His companions in mythology are a sparrow ("el gorrion") and a wild boar ("el jabali"). Only multiple times (up to five times!) fermented tobaccos from cultivation zone A 1 and the leaf stages Ligero and Viso are used. The filler consists of Piloto, Olor Dominicano, and Criollo 98. The binder and wrapper are also Criollo 98. Thus, the tobaccos exclusively come from the Dominican Republic, making DAG a true Dominican "Puro". All formats are "totalmente hecho a mano" (totally handmade) long-fillers (rolled from whole leaves).
Noteworthy Information about the Brand:
World-travelled Günther Schichl is a native of Upper Austria and a dedicated cigar enthusiast. He resides in the Dominican Republic, where he has pursued his hobby for years, a hobby he also studied: the cultivation of tobacco and the production of cigars. He delved deeper and deeper into the complex world of tobacco, starting from the seed to the ash, and evolved into a cigar specialist and lover of the Dominican way of life. He lives away from big cities and tourist hubs, in the heart of tobacco fields and curing barns in Villa Gonzalez.
The question "WHERE is the world-renowned Dominican top tobacco that made it to the top of the world before the world wars" continued to occupy him. In search of pure, virgin, genetically untouched original tobacco, Günther Schichl led his journey to Santiago de los Caballeros, the tobacco capital of the Dominican Republic. After an increasingly intense search, he encountered his future friends and partners, the Carbonell family. The patriarch, JORDIE CARBONELL, now 76 years old, and son PABLO CARBONELL operate a family business in Villas Gonzalez: the "Tabacalera Carbonell", which has been exclusively engaged in tobacco cultivation, its refinement, and the preservation of the original seed and its cultivation since 1894. Proven to be in family ownership for several generations, Günther Schichl finally achieved his set goal, he found the original form of "Olor dominicano" (Criollo Dominicano), discovered by the patriarch JORDIE CARBONELL's great-grandfather in a special microclimate at the foot of the southern slope of the Dominican Central Mountain Range (pico diego delo campo) in the Cibao Valley. Precisely here and only in this specific microclimate does the tobacco grow and thrive, which is used as Capote (binder) and partially as Tripa (filler tobacco) for his cigars.
Since then, exclusively this original tobacco has served as the foundation for his cigar compositions. On several hundred tareas in the most suitable microclimate, Tabacalera Altagracia plants the tobacco annually, following traditional methods, which imparts the typical, full-bodied, and aromatic taste characteristic to DAG cigars.
