Don Stefano Senor Matias

These cigars are imported by Don Stefano, an importer based in Wettenberg, Hesse. Behind this name is the Rinn family, currently headed by senior Steffen Rinn and his son Matthias Rinn. The two are best known in the industry for having been the exclusive importer of Nick Perdomo's Nicaraguan cigars for decades. In addition to the extensive range of Perdomo Cigars, they offer numerous other cigars from the Dominican Republic. Understandably, they prefer to keep their focus when it comes to Nicaragua! Particularly noteworthy here are the mild vitolas of Samana Cigars, which are rolled at Tabacalera Don Esteban.

Senor Matias Cigars: Diverse Flavors Through an International Tobacco Blend

The Senor Matias Cigars feature a wrapper and binder from the Dominican Republic. The filler is a medium-bodied blend of Dominican, Nicaraguan, and Peruvian tobaccos. The two Rinns selected this blend from a wide range of blends proposed by the tabacalera. We were very impressed by the blend, particularly the pleasantly firm construction. It seems that considerably more tobacco has been packed in more densely than usual. As a result, lighting took a little longer, and the draw resistance was slightly above average.

Don Stefano: Exclusive Importer of Premium Cigars

For us, this is actually a positive. We prefer somewhat sturdier and “firmer” sticks that resemble Cuban cigars in terms of feel and construction. The flavor profile is noticeably low in pepper, leaning more toward woody and earthy notes. Our compliments to both gentlemen – well done!
