Gilbert de Montsalvat Revolution Style

There are now numerous cigar lines under the Gilbert De Montsalvat Cigars name. All of them were created by Raymondo Bernasconi, a Swiss national and former U.S. citizen. In addition, Ray successfully runs his cigar shop, House of Smoke, in Basel. Originally, these cigars were intended exclusively for him and his store, but these smokes became so popular within a very short time that they are now distributed throughout Germany by the importer Kohlhase & Söhne from Rellingen. He is an exceptionally likeable individual and definitely one of our favorite colleagues in the industry!

Gilbert De Montsalvat Cigars: The Success Story of Raymondo Bernasconi

Monsieur Montsalvat does not actually exist. He is a fictional character created by Ray, who also lent his own profile for the artwork on the cigar boxes. Anyone who has seen him walking around at one of the many cigar trade shows will instantly recognize him in the silhouette on the cigar band and the box. We think it's a great design! The unfinished, light-colored solid wood boxes holding 10 cigars, along with the charming story behind them, certainly make the brand highly recognizable. By now, even Ray himself considers these premium cigars to be significantly underpriced. Even the two limited editions in the Toro format are genuine bargains! Every vitola is a longfiller, entirely handmade in one of Nicaragua's most renowned tabacaleras.

The Exclusive World of Gilbert De Montsalvat Cigars

The wrapper is an Ecuadorian leaf, while the binder comes from the Dominican Republic. The tobaccos used in the filler originate exclusively from the Condega region of Nicaragua. You can find the lighter sister blend of Gilbert De Montsalvat, previously presented in pink-purple boxes and, since autumn 2015, in blue-black boxes, via the link above. Its overall character is peppery, full-bodied, and at the same time fruity and spicy. The relatively small box counts practically invite you to buy a whole box. Only the Toro is available as a Limited Edition.
