Gilbert de Montsalvat Revolution Style
There are two different cigar lines under the name Gilbert De Montsalvat, both created by Raymondo Bernasconi, a Swiss with a US-American passport. Ray also successfully operates a cigar shop, his House of Smoke, in Basel. Originally, the cigars were exclusively intended for him and his shop, but these "stogies" became so successful in a very short time that the cigars are now distributed throughout Germany by the importer Kohlhase & Kopp from Rellingen.
Monsieur Montsalvat does not actually exist; he is a fictional character created by Ray, who also designed his profile for the cigar boxes. Anyone who has seen him walking around at various cigar fairs will recognize him in the silhouette on the cigar ring and the box immediately! We think it's very well done! The unpainted, light 10-count solid wood boxes and the nice story behind them certainly ensure high recognition value.
These premium cigars have now become too affordable even for Ray himself; even the two limited editions in the Toro format are a real bargain at only € 6.20! All vitolas are handcrafted as long-fillers in one of Nicaragua's most renowned Tabacaleras.
The wrapper is a leaf from Ecuador, the binder comes from the Dominican Republic, and the filler tobaccos are entirely sourced from the Condega region in Nicaragua. You can find the lighter sister cigars in the formerly pink-purple and since autumn 2015 blue-black Gilbert de Montsalvat boxes here!
The basic characteristics are peppery, robust, and at the same time fruity-spicy. The relatively small packaging units encourage buying by the box. Only the Toro is available as a limited edition.
