Joya de la Romana

These cigars are, in the best sense, classic representatives of their country of origin. They are very approachable puros from the Dominican Republic, meaning that all the tobaccos used come from the Central American country. The wrapper is a particularly light Connecticut shade leaf, grown under shade to give it a particularly noble and distinguished appearance. We have always liked the elegant presentation and the perfect look of the wrapper of this series, which has been present in the German market even before the cigar boom in the 1990s, making it one of the "dinosaurs."
The Joya de la Romana cigars have a medium-bodied taste and captivate with a flavor profile leaning towards creamy nuttiness. They are manufactured at the Tabacalera de Garcia in the city of La Romana, located in the south of the island of Hispaniola. The factory is owned by the tobacco giant Imperial Tobacco and produces equally famous cigar brands such as Don Diego or Santa Damiana.
In the past, we used to recommend the 8-9-8 format, as it allowed for a wonderful comparison between the light and Maduro variants. However, the Maduro is no longer available, so our current favorite cigar from this series is the Epicure, a slightly thinner robusto that wonderfully embodies the best of Dominican cigars with its mild and creamy character. The boxes are designed in the classic 8-9-8 arrangement, meaning there are 8 cigars in the bottom layer, 9 above, and 8 in the top layer.
