San Pedro de Macoris Nicaragua

The Dutch Wintermans family owns the traditional company Agio Cigars, which has been active in the cigar business for many years. Especially the junior boss Boris Wintermans has distinguished himself in the industry with an increasing focus on handmade premium long-fillers and achieved great success.

First, the excellent Balmoral Anejo 18 and then the "spin-offs" Anejo XO Oscuro and Anejo XO Connecticut earned great respect for the master blenders at Agio Cigars in their Dominican Tabacalera. Speaking of Dominican: Due to their production in the Dominican Republic, we have also included this "Nicaraguan" variant in this section. Due to the increasing "internationalization" of tobacco blends, this categorization appears to us to be the most consistent. In addition to these long-fillers, of course, the three lines of high-quality Balmoral cigars and various short-fillers (Meharis, Biddies, Primavera, Panter, and others) continue to be offered.

With the San Pedro de Macoris Nicaragua, the third line of more affordable cigars from Agio Cigars under the name San Pedro de Macoris was introduced to the German market in June 2019. These are known as sandwich cigars, which means they are technically medium-fillers, but with a smaller proportion of torn leaves than usual. This allows the ash to hold like with a long-filler, but the cigars can be offered at more affordable prices, similar to many medium-fillers.

The version with the addition of Nicaragua is held together by a Nicaraguan wrapper, the binder is a Dominican Olor, and the filler blend consists of Dominican Piloto Ligero and Olor as well as Brazilian tobacco. Thus, except for the wrapper, this version is identical to the other two variants. The manufacturer describes this blend as a "creamy, medium-bodied smoking experience with complex notes of cedarwood, dark chocolate, and espresso beans, with subtle hints of baking spices." Well, I haven't smoked baking spices, but you get a rough idea of what to expect, right? :-)

This time as well, as with every line, a total of four vitolas are offered, each packaged in boxes of 20.
