Asylum 867 Zero
The Asylum 867 cigars comprise three lines and are part of the flavored 867 series by Christian Eiroa and his in-house brand Asylum. Originally launched as Deadwood Tobacco Co. Chasing the Dragon, the cigars were renamed Asylum 867 in 2023 following a trademark dispute over the “Deadwood” name. Since then, the three lines Auntie, Midnight Oil, and Zero have been marketed as stand-alone products, with updated names and packaging. At the time of the product launch in Germany in summer 2025, only the Asylum 867 Zero cigars featured here and the Asylum 867 Midnight Oil have arrived at our store.
Asylum 867 Zero Cigars – Flavored Honduran Puros With a Sweet Twist
Like all 867 variants, the Zero is made exclusively with Honduran tobacco. This makes them true Honduran puros with a clear and “honest” base character. The refinement process is what Eiroa refers to as a steeping method: the cigars are treated externally with an aromatic liquid, resulting in a subtle additional note. A sweetened tip adds a light sweetness right from the first draw, without overpowering the tobacco itself. Personally, I found the Zeros slightly more pleasant than their “sibling cigars,” the Midnight Oil, with their chocolaty coffee note—though that might have just been my mood on the day.
Character and Flavor
The Asylum 867 Zero is aimed at smokers curious about flavored cigars who don’t want to sacrifice tobacco identity. Its profile blends the sweet hints of the tip with the typical traits of Honduran cigars: earthy, gently spicy, and creamy nuances emerge as the smoke develops. The result is a medium-bodied, well-balanced smoking experience that shifts between smooth flavoring and classic tobacco character.
Conclusion
With the Asylum 867 Zero, Asylum Cigars offers a line that appeals both to newcomers to flavored formats and to seasoned aficionados. If you’re looking for an unusual combination of subtle sweetness and authentic tobacco flavor, this cigar provides a distinctive alternative within the broader Asylum Cigars portfolio—originally known above all for its oversized ring gauges and giant cigars.
