Guantanamera is the first new Habanos brand of the 21st century. Its world premiere took place on September 14, 2002, in Germany at “Intertabac.” Since then, it has enjoyed strong popularity among aficionados who want to experience Cuban flavor without taking out a small loan. All vitolas are produced “mecanizado” – machine-made – in a modern factory in Havana. This keeps availability intact. By contrast, for most other handmade Cuban cigars, complaints have been widespread since the Covid pandemic in the early 2020s, as only homeopathic quantities have been shipped and prices have in some cases risen sharply.

The term Guantanamera refers to a woman from Guantánamo. As a Habanos brand, Guantanamera cigars were introduced to the international market in 2002. The brand existed in five different formats and was complemented by a cigarillo format, the Minis.
