Hoyo de Monterrey Cigars

Hoyo de Monterrey de José Gener that is the full name of the cigar. It is one of the oldest Cuban cigar brands. Since time immemorial, it is the ideal brand for smokers who prefer fine aromatic Habanos. The cigars are comparatively easy to convince but by great elegance and complexity.

To enter into the brand we recommend the Double Corona  with a r49er ring gauge and 194 mm length. It is not a cigar for any occasion, but once you take the necessary time they rewarded with a creamy sweetness, mild tobacco flavor and soft, slightly woody aroma with medium strength.

A very similar taste, and shorter shapes represent the Epicure family. The Epicure No. 1 (RM 46, 143 mm), proves to be surprisingly fruity, in contrast, the Epicure No. 2 (RM 50, 124 mm) clear woody and strong.

About the brand Hoyo de Monterrey

Hoyo de Monterrey is closely connected with the name of José Gener. Don José Gener y Batet was a Spanish Catalan from a respected family. At the age of 13 he immigrated to Cuba in 1831 where he gained his first experience in the tobacco industry on the plantation of his uncle in the Vuelta Abajo. His uncle made José an offer to provide him some money to establish his own factory. In 1850 José Gener accepted and opened a factory in Havana. There he created a new brand called "La Escepción".
