Romeo y Julieta De Oro

The cigar brand Romeo y Julieta was introduced back in 1850 by a gentleman named Inocencio Álvarez Rodríguez and José "Manin" García. As even those less familiar with literature might guess, the name undoubtedly comes from William Shakespeare's famous tragic love story, which he penned in the late 16th century. The brand was originally founded to produce cigars for the domestic market. Its current worldwide fame was achieved under the leadership of José Rodríguez Fernández, better known as "Don Pepin," who acquired the brand in 1903. However, it's important to note that this "Don Pepin" has no connection to the Don Pepin of My Father Cigars.
Romeo y Julieta cigars quickly became the leading global brand in just a few years. At one point, the portfolio included over 40 different formats. Today, alongside Cohiba, Montecristo, and Partagas, the cigars of this brand are among the world's most well-known and beloved cigars.
In recent years, the brand's portfolio has seen significant expansion: The Wide Churchill, Short Churchill, Petit Churchill, and Petit Royales were added as a whole (sub-)series to meet the increased demand for thicker cigars. In 2020, the most significant expansion took place. Similar to the Montecristo Linea 1935, Romeo y Julieta also introduced an exclusive line: Romeo y Julieta Linea de Oro - the Gold Series. In the spring of the pandemic year 2020, the three vitolas were presented on the occasion of the brand's 145th anniversary at the Festival del Habano in Cuba. The Linea de Oro is the exclusive premium line in the brand's portfolio and consists of three completely new vitolas that were not previously included in the standard lineup.
Officially, Habanos categorizes the strength of these cigars as medium to full-bodied. The three vitolas are named Dianas, Hidalgos, and Nobles and are presented with an additional ring at the foot, adding to their premium appearance. The highly crafted boxes display the brand's reddish hue while allowing the wood's grain to be visible underneath. The lid features a solid and imposing plaque depicting the famous balcony scene.
