Aganorsa Leaf Cerberus

Just hearing the melodious name already gives you a sense that there is a lot to tell about these cigars. Let’s start with the name: Cerberus (also spelled Zerberus in German) is, in Greek mythology, the multi-headed dog that guards Hades, the underworld. The actual story of the cigar, however, has to do with dogs—and not with the underworld. The Aganorsa Leaf Cerberus Cigars are a tribute to the American bulldogs that help guard the Vegas, Aganorsa’s tobacco farms.

Aganorsa Leaf Cerberus: Homage to the Guardians of the Tobacco Fields

I didn’t recognize these cigars because of the name Cerberus, but because of what is written below it on the cigar band: Guardian of the Farm. For several years now, we have also been importing cigars from Warped, which, by the way, are also produced at Aganorsa, and through this we were offered the chance to import the limited edition Warped Guardian of the Farm. Nothing came of that at the time—but now cigars bearing this name have finally arrived! In the past, Aganorsa had primarily built its reputation in tobacco growing and processing; sales and marketing of the rolled products were left to other cigar brands until the early 2020s. The name Aganorsa stands for Agricola Norteña S.A., by the way. Many renowned brands such as Viaje Cigars or the Illusione Cigars by Dion Giolito are rolled here. The founder and owner is Eduardo Fernandez, who acquired the Tabacalera Tabacos Valle de Jalapa S.A., initially produced under Casa Fernandez, and since 2018 has operated under the name Aganorsa Leaf.

Corojo 2012 Wrapper: Flavor and Innovation from Nicaragua

Eduardo is Cuban-born and, interestingly enough, amassed a significant fortune through the highly successful IPO of Telepizza in Spain—capital he now aims to grow further through investment in the cigar industry. Here you can find all other Aganorsa Leaf cigars available from us. The Leaf Cerberus presented here are the third line within the Guardians of the Farm family, but the first to make it to Germany. They are Nicaraguan puros, naturally made exclusively from the company’s own tobacco. Particularly noteworthy is the company’s in-house development, Corojo 2012, which is used here as the wrapper. This achieves, on the one hand, a characteristically rich profile and, on the other, a smooth body. In terms of flavor, it is, in my view, what one would call a typical Nicaraguan cigar, which cannot hide its origin with a touch of pepper and pronounced earthy notes. Personally, it is a bit too intense for me at the moment, but thanks to its excellent construction and harmonious aromatics, it is a recommendation for lovers of stronger cigars.
