Karen Berger Sampler

Karen Berger is one of the few women who hold a leading position in the international cigar industry. She hails from Estelí, the heart of Nicaragua’s tobacco-growing region. As a young woman, she began working in a cigar factory to finance her business administration studies. It was there that she met Enrique “Don Kiki” Berger, who had founded his own cigar production business in the 1990s. After his passing in 2014, Karen Berger carried on her husband’s life’s work—with deep dedication and a clear vision for quality and craftsmanship.

Karen Berger – A Remarkable Figure in the World of Cigars

She launched her first cigars under the name K by Karen Berger. All cigars by Karen Berger are handcrafted in Nicaragua. The tobaccos come primarily from the Estelí region, known for its rich, aromatic soil. Many lines are produced as “Nicaragua Puros,” meaning they are made entirely from Nicaraguan tobacco. This close connection between origin and craftsmanship shapes the cigars’ unmistakable character. From “K by Karen Berger” to an Independent Brand

In 2016, Berger introduced her own line under the name K by Karen Berger for the first time. The “K” symbolized the bond between Kiki and Karen. With the brand relaunch in 2023, all lines have been unified under the name Karen Berger Cigars. The brand now represents a new generation of Nicaraguan cigars—shaped by tradition, craftsmanship, and a businesswoman who has steadily forged her path in a male-dominated industry. Since 2023, all cigars of this brand have been distributed in Germany by the Kleinlagel siblings.
