Omar Rodriguez Form

The cigars in the Omar Rodríguez Bundles series were initiated by Omar Rodríguez, who, as the author of the book Cigar Makers of Nicaragua, has strong ties to the Nicaraguan tobacco scene. He has since sold the trademark rights to Fernando Navarro, who now has the line produced at Tabacalera Pichardo in Estelí. The owner, Eradio Pichardo, is already very successfully represented here with his Pichardo Zigarren and, until 2023, also produced the Zigarren von Luciano, which our fellow retailer Salih Dalay from Saarbrücken also successfully distributes nationwide. So once again, I’ve digressed a little. Now, back to the affordable longfillers we're presenting here!

Omar Rodríguez Bundles: Nicaraguan Longfillers with Terroir Character

The region around Estelí is now considered the heart of the Nicaraguan cigar industry. The city, now with around 100,000 residents – when I first visited in 2005, it was only about 40,000 (!) – is located in the north of the country, where volcanic soils and a distinct microclimate create ideal conditions for tobacco plants. Numerous small-scale factories have established themselves here, still working in a traditional, artisanal manner. We import these cigars directly from the factory and, together with the brand owner, have calculated the retail prices very tightly to once again offer our customers high quality at very fair prices. On that note: dealer inquiries are, as always, very welcome!

Tabacalera Pichardo and Fernando Navarro: New Impulses for Value Cigars

Fernando and Eduardo opted for a Nicaraguan puro – a cigar made entirely from tobaccos grown in one country – emphasizing their intention to offer an unadulterated experience of the characteristics and diversity of Nicaraguan terroir. The Omar Rodríguez FORM Bundles Cigars are crafted as longfillers and combine tobaccos from Nicaragua’s key growing regions: Estelí, Condega, and Jalapa. Each of these regions contributes its own nuances – bold and spicy from Estelí, balanced and aromatic from Condega, and sweetly refined from Jalapa. The result is a smoke profile that combines notes of wood, leather, and coffee with hints of cocoa or earth. In some vitolas, a creamy base tone emerges, complemented by a spicy development as the smoke progresses. This series thus not only embodies the concept of an authentic Nicaraguan puro but also highlights the interplay of regional characters that has earned the country a solid place in the world of premium cigars over the past decades.
