Perla de Calvano Cigars

Perla de Calvano Cigars from Estelí, Nicaragua, combine expert craftsmanship with a harmonious flavor profile. Gentle throughout the smoke yet full of character, they reveal notes of wood and hazelnut, accompanied by a subtle freshness that leads into a creamy finish. This series is ideal for beginners and seasoned aficionados alike who are looking for a mild, well-balanced cigar with an excellent price-to-quality ratio. To offer these cigars at such an attractive price, the manufacturer forgoes elaborate—and increasingly expensive—wooden boxes. All vitolas are offered in bundles of 10, which has no impact on the cigar’s quality.

Nicaraguan Roots with an International Blend

The cigars are rolled by experienced torcedores in one of Nicaragua’s large, traditional factories—exactly which one remains a closely guarded secret. What we can say with certainty is that they are not produced at the Tabacalera Oliva. While that might seem likely, given that the brand owner and distributor VCF Cigars (Vandermarliere Cigar Family) also owns that factory, a different "friendly" tabacalera was chosen for this line. We know which one it is and can therefore confidently recommend the Perla de Calvano Cigars! The blend features an Indonesian Java Besuki wrapper paired with a robust Connecticut Broadleaf binder from Honduras. The filler comes from the renowned regions of Estelí and Jalapa in Nicaragua, adding depth and balance. The result is a composition that marries Nicaragua’s strength with refined elegance. Other recommended cigars from Nicaragua by VCF include the popular Oliva Cigars with their many lines, such as the short and chunky NUB Cigars.

Overview of the Series Formats

The series offers four formats, each promising a unique smoking experience: the Short Robusto (4 x 54) for a short, intense session; the classic Robusto (4.5 x 50), combining balanced flavor with a compact format; the elegant Corona (5.5 x 42), noted for its fine balance of length and lightness; and the full-bodied Toro (6 x 50), offering ample space for a long, rounded smoke. Each of these vitolas is hand-rolled and delivers an authentic journey through the flavors of Nicaragua. The brand was introduced in France many years ago and is now one of the country’s best-selling affordable bundle cigars. As an alternative with a similar flavor profile, we also recommend trying the Rosa Nicaragua Cigars.
