With our format samplers, we want to show you how diverse the taste of Cigars can be – even when they are made in the same format with identical dimensions. In many tabacaleras that produce for different brands, cigars of the same size often share an unofficial factory name. Only the individual tobacco blend, the brand, and the intended presentation in retail lead to the official sales name.

CIGARWORLD Format Sampler: Tasting packs with comparable cigars

Even with Cuban Cigars, a distinction is made between factory and sales names: The Vitola de Galera refers to the factory name and defines the shape, ring gauge, and length of a cigar – but not its flavor. The Vitola de Salida is the sales name, i.e., the name under which the cigar is available on the market. Example: Partagás Serie D No. 4, Bolívar Royal Coronas, and Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No. 2 differ in their blends and therefore in taste, but internally share the Vitola de Galera “Robusto” – since they have exactly the same dimensions.

Of course, there are also cigars outside of Cuba with identical formats – meaning the same length and ring gauge. Our format samplers combine cigars that match in their dimensions and are often also comparable in flavor profile. They are therefore not random assortments, but carefully curated tasting packs that invite you to discover, compare, and enjoy.
