When you are out and about or traveling, a cigar case is the right place to store your cigars. Why Cigar Cases Are Preferable
Cigar cases are preferable to storing cigars in a cardboard cigar box because they are made from sturdy, pressure-resistant materials. Leather, wood and metal are among the materials used for the outer shell. They provide lasting protection against pressure and impact that could otherwise damage a cigar.
Some models designed for longer periods of transport also feature a humidifier that can help keep the humidity inside stable for a limited time. For storage lasting several days, however, a standard cigar case is no substitute for a travel humidor. Some higher-priced models feature an interior lining made of cedar wood. The wood can help buffer fluctuations in humidity and impart a subtle cedar note to the cigars. Accessory manufacturers such as Adorini and Guy Janot offer both classic cases and other transport solutions in a variety of designs.
Adjustable-Length Cigar Cases
Regardless of the materials used, adjustable-length cigar cases are available alongside Cigar Cases designed specifically for particular formats. Dupont, for example, is one of the brands offering metal models. Unlike leather cases, rigid wooden or metal cases generally cannot be adjusted in length.
More affordable versions are often made from synthetic leather, common types of wood or lightweight aluminum. In the mid-range and premium segments, rarer woods and materials such as carbon fiber, titanium or silver are also used. Alongside calfskin cases, for example, Davidoff also offers Cigar Cases made of carbon fiber.
Extra-Large Cases
In recent years, larger and more substantial cigar formats have become increasingly popular. As a result, more extra-large XL cigar cases are now available, designed specifically for larger ring gauges. Before purchasing a case, you should therefore consider not only the length but also the diameter of your preferred cigars.
Cigar Cases from Brands and Accessory Manufacturers
Some cigar brands offer matching cases in addition to their cigars. Colors, logos and other design elements reflect the respective brand identity. A Cohiba leather case, for example, remains visually true to the brand, while Romeo y Julieta often emphasizes its characteristic red design.
There are also cases from specialized accessory manufacturers that focus on format, material and craftsmanship. Whether a branded case from Montecristo or a more neutral design is the better fit therefore depends primarily on the required capacity, preferred cigar formats and desired material.
