Becker Pipes: Founder Fritz Becker
Fritz Becker laid the foundation for the family business with the production of pipes. Of Jewish faith and fleeing from the Nazis, he reached the Balkans from Austria in the 1930s, where he worked for the British intelligence service during World War II. After the war, he settled in Rome and represented the World Jewish Congress at the Vatican. Dissatisfied with the quality of standard pipes after the war, he began crafting pipes himself. Thanks to their artisanal precision and high quality, Becker's Freehands quickly gained recognition.
Paolo Becker: Tradition and Innovative Designs
Paolo Becker, Fritz's son, introduced his own ideas and techniques. He developed new designs and styles, expanding the Becker collection. Paolo was not only a talented craftsman but also a skilled marketer and networker who knew how to be in the right place at the right time. His focus was on innovative designs that were both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Paolo Becker passed away in 2014.
Modernization under Federico Becker
Federico Becker, the son of Paolo and grandson of Fritz, continues his family’s legacy. He blends traditional knowledge with modern elements to cater to the evolving tastes of pipe smokers. At the same time, he remains dedicated to preserving traditional craftsmanship while introducing new materials and methods.

Federico stays true to the sleek shapes and elegant lines of his father, using only Calabrian briar of "Extra-Extra" quality, renowned for its exceptional grain. He also continues the grading system based on playing card symbols, invented by his grandfather.
