Centaur Cigars: Heroic and Mythological
Centaur Cigars delve deeply into the treasure chest of Greek mythology. Brand leader Tobias Forst is an avid admirer of ancient hero tales, a passion reflected in the label’s name and the individual formats.
The centaurs are mythical creatures, a hybrid of human and horse. They are typically depicted with the head and upper body of a human, usually male, while from the waist down, they possess the legs and body of a horse. These are fascinating mythical beings, but they are far from sympathetic. Instead, they are known for being unrestrained, drunken, and highly lustful.
Their origins might explain this behavior, as they trace back to the Lapith king Ixion, a man with little regard for morality. Allegedly, he threw his future father-in-law into a pit of burning coals to avoid paying a dowry and caused further discord by harassing Hera, the wife of Zeus, on Mount Olympus.
Cigars Inspired by Greek Legends
The exception among centaurs is Chiron, who descends not from the unruly Ixion but from the god Kronos, the progenitor of Zeus and other gods like Poseidon, Hades, and Demeter. The wise Chiron was less known for boorish behavior and more for being the mentor of famous heroes such as Achilles and Odysseus.
Mythical Cigars: Centaur Hero Series
This paragon of pedagogy from antiquity is honored by Centaur Cigars with his own Toro, while other vitolas are named after mythological figures. The concept behind this is that the blend reflects the character of the respective figure. A perfect opportunity to deepen your knowledge of ancient myths—or to leave the hefty book on the shelf and simply relax and enjoy.
The cigars are crafted in the Tabacalera of Henrik Kelner Jr. in Santiago de los Caballeros. His father is a legend in the Davidoff house, and the son has also made a name for himself with projects for Casdagli (formerly Bespoke Cigars), Principle Cigars, and his own brand Smoking Jacket.
