Dios del Sol – Cigars

Dios del Sol is a young brand launched by importer Kopp Tobaccos. Previously, the Rellingen-based company, located just outside Hamburg, had imported Flor de Copan to Germany for many years until the brand moved into the portfolio of Cuban distributor Habanos S.A. However, the northern German company did not want to give up premium cigars from Honduras, so it promptly created Dios del Sol.

Dios del Sol by Kopp Tobaccos

At Kopp Tobaccos, Oliver Kopp is personally behind the project. The brand bears the Spanish name Dios del Sol, meaning sun god, while its series is called El Principio, deliberately embracing the idea of a beginning. The brand thus marks a clear starting point: Kopp Tobaccos is drawing on all its expertise to create its own cigar with a distinct identity.

Dios del Sol is produced in Honduras. Kopp Tobaccos spent around two years looking for the right partner for its development before finding one in an established family-run business. After rolling, the blend matures for more than a year in the aging room, allowing the tobaccos not only to mature but to become carefully harmonized with one another.

Connecticut, Broadleaf and Jalapa

The wrapper is a Honduras Connecticut, the binder a Honduras Broadleaf, while the filler comes from the Jamastrán Valley in Honduras and Jalapa in Nicaragua. This combination explains the cigar's character better than any grand promise could. The Connecticut wrapper lends it an approachable, lighter character, while Broadleaf, Jamastrán and Jalapa give the smoke structure, spice and depth.

Creamy Flavor with Mild Spice

Dios del Sol focuses not on excessive strength, but on balance. Creamy, lightly spicy, aromatic and pleasantly sweet – attributes that aptly describe its flavor profile. The result is a cigar that stands out above all for its balance: the sweetness remains well integrated, the spice never becomes sharp, and the creamy foundation makes the blend appealing even to aficionados who do not associate Honduran cigars exclusively with bold, dark profiles.

Modern Honduran Cigar with Character

Dios del Sol stands out above all for its clarity of concept. The brand does not claim a long-established tradition it cannot have, but instead demonstrates how an experienced importer can work with a local tabacalera to develop its own Honduran cigar. The well-known tobacco origins, extended maturation period and broad selection of formats reflect a carefully considered approach. Anyone looking for a modern Honduran cigar that combines creamy texture, mild spice and first-class quality will find Dios del Sol an interesting brand with a distinctive character.
