First impressions after opening the box very postivie - immediately noticed the cedar aroma, each individual stick wrapped in a cedar sheet and a cedar sheet sandwiched between the stick layers in the box. Optically very pleasing, with the elegant, gold on white bands. Acclimated 24h at 65% RH and then dry-boxed for another 6h before smoking. V-cut a little bit too deep which created a bit of a too open, airy draw. Noted to myself to cut less on the next one. Cold puff - light but aromatic tobacco, with a light hint of caramelized nuts and vanilla. Initial puffs - very mild profile, got mostly hazelnut with slight caramel and strong floral lift on the retro. Up into the mid - no big changes from the start - delicate tobaccoey taste, slightly grassy with a creamy, floral quality. On the retro more of the sweet florality and sometimes emerging vanilla. Middle to final third - no big switch ups - nuts and wood faded slightly, floral lift got more pronounced, caramel on the retro moved into vanilla toffee territory. Final third - more of the same, with very delicate hints of white pepper sprinkled in. Tiny bit of bitterness crept in while smoking the nub, probably due to me being too hasty with puffs - would recommend really pacing yourself and going slow to draw out the most of the sweetness. Ash quite loose, landed on the floor at about 1.5-2cm mark. Burn line was alright, fairly even with no major problems overall but had to correct it once. All in all, a very positive surprise and my new mild, floral-sweetness value king. Still got 1 each of toro and robusto to test and already can't wait to try when they properly drop to 65% and after aging. I think I'll have to get another box.
