Dunbarton Cigars – A Brand with Character
If this label were a film, its announcement might go something like this: "Dunbarton – the new masterpiece from the creator of Drew Estate!" That’s because behind the brand stands Steve Saka. Not only is he an imposing figure, but the tall, burly man with a shaved head and goatee also boasts an impressive career.
For many years, he was under contract with Drew Estate, ultimately serving as CEO. He was one of the key figures responsible for shaping the brand and played a major role in its success. After leaving the company, he faced a two-year non-compete agreement before returning to the tobacco business.
Steve’s Comeback
In 2015, he stepped back onto the scene and introduced his new project: Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust. Despite the name, it has nothing to do with the Scottish county—Dunbarton was simply the town in New Hampshire where Steve lived at the time.
Sobremesa Cigars by Dunbarton
The first line he launched was Sobremesa, a Spanish term with no direct translation in German. It refers to the time spent lingering at the table after a meal, enjoying a drink—or, naturally, a good cigar.
The Sobremesa Brûlée series, with its Connecticut wrapper from Ecuador, seemingly reminds master blenders of dessert cream. Its caramelized sugar shares the same light brown hue and is just as irresistible.

“Sin Compromiso” hardly needs translation. The bold name sounds like the motto of a determined general—or a small-time criminal’s arm tattoo.
In reality, the name reflects its philosophy: quality above all else. This line represents the pinnacle of Steve’s portfolio and is truly high-end in terms of raw tobacco, blending, and craftsmanship.
