Exclusiv Pipe Tobacco: The Beginnings

On December 24, 1902, Alois Pöschl founded the "Brasiltabakfabrik A. Pöschl & Cie." in Landshut. With limited financial resources, he began producing Schmalzler snuff tobacco, a traditional Bavarian product. The location along the Isar River also enabled the operation of tobacco mills.
Around 1920, Pöschl introduced a trademark: a "P" inside an octagon. The product range quickly expanded and soon included the tobacco-free "Schneeling" as well as the Schmalzler "Doppelaroma," which remains a bestseller to this day.

Overcoming Crises, Reconstruction, and Success After 1948

World War II brought significant challenges. After the war, Wilhelm and Alois Pöschl took over leadership, secured raw materials, and rebuilt the destroyed production facilities.
Following the 1948 currency reform, the brothers expanded the product range to compensate for losses. Hansa Krüll Pipe Tobacco and Adria Fine Cut were introduced to the market. Pöschl successfully launched pipe tobacco and, by the mid-1960s, established the popular Exclusiv series, which elevated the company to new heights.

Globalization, Innovation, and Growth

In 1979, the third generation took the helm and built an international distribution network. In 1995, Pöschl established a state-of-the-art production facility in Geisenhausen to meet growing demand.
In 1971, Pöschl introduced the globally successful snuff tobacco brand "Gletscherprise." This was followed in 1994 by the launch of the "Red Bull" fine-cut family. In 2006, the company introduced the additive-free fine-cut tobacco "Pueblo" and began its own cigarette production in 2008.

Pöschl and Exclusiv: Modern Developments

Since 2006, the fourth generation has been at the helm of the company. Under their leadership, innovative products such as Pueblo Fine Cut were introduced, and the company’s international presence expanded to over 100 countries. In 2011, Pöschl achieved its highest sales in company history, exceeding 6,000,000 kg.

Today, Pöschl is a leading supplier of snuff and pipe tobacco, committed to continuous innovation and tradition. In 2012, production capacity in Geisenhausen was expanded with the construction of a new hall.
