Familial Inspiration
Gabriele Dal Fiume has become one of the most renowned and established Italian pipe makers over the past 30 years. Born in 1968, he has been crafting pipes since 1987. His journey into the world of pipes began with his father and uncle, who would sit and smoke pipes in his childhood home. This left a lasting impression on him, prompting him to start smoking pipes himself and build a collection.
Pipes with a Unique Style
From there, it wasn’t a long leap to the desire to craft a pipe with his own hands. Nowadays, he creates between 50 and 100 pipes a year and has developed his own distinctive style. His shapes are primarily rooted in the Danish tradition, characterised by harmonious, dynamic forms.
Well-Connected
Gabriele Dal Fiume is not just a pipe maker but also a sought-after advisor and dealer for various tools and consumables for pipe making. He supplies many other pipe makers and is a member of the Accademia della Pipa. He is well-connected within the Italian pipe community.
Wood from the Best Supplier
He sources his wood from the most renowned and reputable briar wood dealer, Domenico “Mimmo” Romeo. He is often seen in his company at many pipe shows and other events related to pipes. He usually has a Toscano in his mouth or smokes one of his own pipes with a blend of Toscano Kentucky tobacco and some Virginia, which he calls “Toscovirginia.”
