The “Godfather of Cigars & Spirits,” as the label calls itself without false modesty, naturally references *The Godfather*, Francis Ford Coppola’s legendary cinematic epic. While the kiss of the ring traditionally signifies loyalty to the Godfather, the aficionado, by kissing the “ring” – the cigar band – offers a gesture of respect for tradition. At Il Padrino, this becomes a refined ritual. With the kiss initiating the enjoyment of the cigar, it celebrates anticipation and devotion.
The Unique Design of Il Padrino
Particular attention has been paid to brand design. This was the responsibility of the third member of the group, Klaus Trommer. He successfully endowed Il Padrino with an unmistakable artwork – the martial image of a smoking skull and the elegant lettering are truly unique in the cigar world. Above all, the extravagant design results in striking cigar boxes and beautiful cigar bands that one is happy to kiss.
The label is the project of three friends. It was founded by the well-connected Don Michael. Also part of the team is the versatile André Riehl. As a cigar ambassador, he has been active in countless roles. A broader audience knows him primarily as a television presenter. In consumer programs, he exposed scams – whether in car purchases or supermarkets – and sold kitchen gadgets on the shopping channel QVC. However, his true passion lies in cigars.

The trio’s result is outstanding boutique cigars that delight not only the palate but also the eye. Each of the three friends is a master of his craft, much to the benefit of aficionados. Il Padrino brings variety to the humidor – offering exquisite cigars beyond the mainstream.

Beneath the beautifully brown H2000 wrapper lies a binder, the specifics of which Il Padrino keeps secret, and a filler composed of Seco and Ligero. And because the "Godfather" naturally has a hand in everything, he leaves nothing to chance when it comes to pairing either. Rum or – the less common but delightful alternative – Butterscotch can be enjoyed with or without a cigar. Butterscotch is a creamy liqueur with an intense butter caramel flavor and fine vanilla notes. Crafted from premium alcohol and natural flavors, it offers a pleasantly smooth sweetness on the palate. Butterscotch Old Fashioned (Ingredients)
- 5 cl Il Padrino Butterscotch Liqueur
- 2 cl Bourbon Whiskey
- 1 cl Sugar Syrup
- 2 dashes Bitters
Stir all ingredients with ice and strain into a tumbler glass filled with fresh ice. The Butterscotch Old Fashioned combines sweet toffee notes with a robust whiskey base – a treat for extraordinary moments.
